The Managers of Tomorrow

P. Saul

Chandler & Macleod's Organisation Development and Training Division in Sydney

By the end of this decade there will be few Australian organisations employing more than 200 people that do not have someone on their staff with one of the following position titles: Personnel Development Manager Manpower Development Manager Human Resources Development Manager Training and Development Manager Personnel and Training Manager Organisation Development Manager Training Manager

Positions with one of the above titles are now regularly advertised in newspapers and professional journals. ln many cases, the positions are newly created ones resulting from "senior management's recognition of the increasingly impor tant role of the human resources function in our organisation". Yet, only ten years ago, the position titles listed above were virtually unknown in Australia.
